What is dandruff?

Dandruff is a skin condition that occurs when flakes of dead skin form on the scalp .Dandruff is a common condition, and is considered quite normal. However, large amounts of flaking on the scalp can be a visual annoyance. It also can manifest with redness and irritation. What causes dandruff?

Dandruff causes can also be linked to allergic reactions to certain foods, such as nuts, chocolate and shellfish. Other dandruff causes can be stress and hormonal reactions.

What kinds of dandruff treatment would be suggested for dandruff control?
A humidifier to keep the air moist could be a possible consideration for dandruff treatment. Also limiting the use of hair coloring with alcohol will help in avoiding any irritants to the scalp. Taking vitamin B6 in your diet will be helpful in controlling your dandruff skin condition. Wearing a hat during very cold weather, or also if you are out in the sun, will aid in protecting your scalp. Providing a dandruff home remedy for your treatment can be helpful for dandruff control. However, if you think you have a severe case of dandruff, a dandruff home remedy will not be as effective for treatment. Contacting a dermatologist for a professional evaluation would be the best choice for guidance of treatment.
